Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi have received settlements for over $ 103 million in BP oil spills for new and ongoing coastal projects.
According to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, 11 new projects and two expansions total $ 1.6 billion across the five Gulf states.
Alabama has won over $ 43 million in four new projects. Florida has won about $ 33 million in one new project.
The remaining $ 27 million will continue two projects in Mississippi and support six new projects. The Foundation’s Gulf Environmental Benefits Fund received $ 2.5 billion in a settlement after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
