Meanwhile, the city spends millions of dollars on advertising targeting unvaccinated communities.
There are areas where doctors say more people are vulnerable to acquiring delta variants of the virus, and there are places where more people are not vaccinated.
Healthcare professionals are trying to change it from Bronx to Central Harlem, Brooklyn.
“This is a major concern and we are currently working on it,” said Dr. Edward Telzac of St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx.
Since 7 On Your Side first investigated the issue last month, vaccinations have increased by an average of 20% in each neighborhood.
However, there are still 17 zip codes in which less than 40% of the population is vaccinated. Most of those zip codes are in Brooklyn.
Dr. Raji Ayinla of NYC Health + Hospitals Harlem said:
The city is brightening air routes, internet and bus terminals with COVID-19 advertising campaigns in multiple languages.
The City Health Department has spent $ 125 million on campaigns so far this year, including ads recommending people to vaccinate.
At a recent budget meeting, the Department of Health said it was the largest media campaign ever done.
“Our media budget is over $ 140 million, most of which is focused on vaccination campaigns, covering dozens of languages and media of all kinds,” said New York City. Sami Jara of the Department of Health said. And mental health at a recent meeting.
“These numbers include city-wide placements and targeted placements in areas with low vaccination rates,” said a spokesperson for the Department of Health in a statement.
