2022 Anniversary: ​​Local ritual, parade honors corrupt military personnel and women

New York (WABC)-Today, the community throughout the Tri-State area is celebrating service members who have dedicated their lives to their country.

In New York City, Memorial Day events included an annual rally at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum on the West Side of Manhattan.

Hundreds of veterans and active members of the army were at hand when military personnel spread the 100-foot American flag.

The event included an aircraft flyover.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams was one of the officials talking to the people at hand.

Lower Manhattan

Meanwhile, in Lower Manhattan, it was another kind of commemorative ritual.

Monday marks the 20th anniversary of the official completion of rescue and recovery work at the attack site on September 11.

Participants praised the rescue, recovery, and rescue personnel who died that day, as well as many who have died of 9/11-related illnesses since then.

The ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Grade was attended by honorary guards with members from NYPD, FDNY, the Port Authority Police Department, and the New York City Sanitation Department.

Governor of New York Kathy Hokuru also attended.


Mayor Eric Adams of New York and Governor of New York Cathy Hockle are one of the people marching at the Douglaston-Little Neck Anniversary Parade.

The parade over 90, canceled during the pandemic, will drop off at 2:00 pm on Jason Avenue and Northern Boulevard.

Elected officials join veterans’ groups and other community members to march the Northern Boulevard along a one-mile course.

The event concludes with a light meal and a brief closing ceremony at the Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy parking lot on 245th Street, Douglaston.

Westchester County

The anniversary tradition has resumed today in Westchester County.

The Chapaqua Memorial Day Parade departed at 11am after the ceremony at the Victory Corners Memorial.

Two of Chappaqua’s most famous residents-former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton-were expected to be at hand.

The event ended with a ceremony at the Memorial Plaza near Chappaqua Station.

Long island

In Nassau County, Bruce A. Blakeman executives joined Massapequa’s inhabitants to observe the county’s first silent prayer to commemorate the Memorial Day of the War Dead.

Residents were required to pause for 50 seconds at 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm to honor the country’s fallen heroes.

All fire departments and emergency service vehicles in the county are required to ring sirens and horns, all churches in the Rockville Center parish are required to ring bells, and the Nassau Inter-Country Express (NICE) Transit Service is required to ring the bus. Agreed to pause 50 seconds of service-all the time.

New jersey

After a two-year absence due to a pandemic, the annual Tri-Boro Memorial Day parade began at 10:30 am on West Grand Avenue in Montvale.

Parade Route: Kinder Kamak Road to Park Avenue in Park Ridge. Turn left onto Pascack Road. Then proceed to the Woodcliff Lake finish line at Borough Hall.

Prior to the parade, ceremonies were held in each of the three towns.
