3 Best NFL Bets For Thanksgiving Day

Soon after Halloween is over, most people, retailers, and businesses tend to jump right into the Christmas spirit and look right past Thanksgiving Day. For sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts, Thanksgiving is the King of all Holidays.

This holiday checks all the boxes, family, friends, food, drinks, and most importantly 3 NFL Games on National TV. Yes, watching the Detroit Lions every year is very unappealing, but having money on the game will help spice things up a bit.

Below we give you the best bet for each NFL game on Thanksgiving Day.

Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions

Line: Bears -4

Total: o/u 44

Time: 12:30pm

TV: Fox

While this divisional game does not scream excitement, it will allow the national audience a chance to watch Justin Fields develop into a dynamic quarterback. The 0-8 Lions look to be on their way to securing the number one overall pick in this year’s NFL draft and have the 31st rank defense in terms of opponent points per game (30.5). Fields played against these same lions earlier this year in just his second career start and didn’t put up impressive numbers but still led the Bears to a win.

With Fields having six more starts under his belt and the coaching staff opening the playbook, he should have himself a day. When it comes to placing a bet in this game, player props may be the way to go. I will be eyeing Fields’ o/u rushing yards player prop. The Bears QB has hit the over in his rushing yards prop four straight weeks by an average margin of 34 yards. But, for my best bet, I will be choosing aside. And no, I do not mean green bean casserole or mashed potatoes.

BEST BET: Bears -4. The Bears beat these lions 24-14 last month and have won both games in which they have been the favorites. Not to mention Detroit will be coming off back-to-back road games. Earlier this year, the Lions were in this same situation, losing to the Bengals 34-11.

Las Vegas Raiders at Dallas Cowboys

Line: Cowboys -6.5

Total: o/u 54

Time: 4:30pm

Every year the Dallas Cowboys come into the season with huge expectations, and 2021 was no different. 2021 feels like it could be a little different as it seems the Cowboys could be fulfilling those expectations. The Cowboys, led by their QB, have started the season 6-2 and 7-1 ATS. The biggest question mark coming into this season was how Dak Prescott would bounce back from his devastating ankle injury. Well, he’s come out on fire and has put this offense on his shoulders and put himself in the MVP talks.

Dak has helped Dallas score the 3rd most points per game at 30.1, just behind Tampa Bay and Arizona, and throwing the 5th most TD’s to this point with 18.

BEST BET: Dak Prescott over passing touchdowns player prop. Dak has hit the over on his passing touchdowns props in every game this year except for Week 2 vs. the Chargers. You could look towards Dallas -6.5 as well, since the metrics suggest the Raiders are overmatched, with the Cowboys currently ranking fifth in total DVOA compared to the Raiders ranking 21st, per Football Outsiders.

Buffalo Bills at New Orleans Saints

Line: Bills -3.5

Total: o/u 47

Time: 8:20pm

The nightcap for Thanksgiving Day should pose as a defensive battle. Both the Saints (5th) and Bills (1st) offer top 5 defenses for opponent points per game. They have top 5 defense; they ranked 1 and 2 in the league when it comes to RedZone defense. Buffalo’s opponents are scoring redzone touchdowns on only 40.91% of the time, which is the best league. The Saints are right behind them with 47.62%, which is 2nd best in the league, per Team Rankings.

Although the Saints have a great defense, their offense will still have to score points and may have to in large amounts as Buffalo can score in bunches. Buffalo averages 29.4 points per game which is 4th best in the league. The saints are down to their backup QB Trevor Siemian; that may be tricky, as he only has 3 NFL starts since 2017.

BEST BET: Bills -3.5. Buffalo will again show why they are a legit Super Bowl contender when they take down the Saints at the Superdome. Thanksgiving Day favorites are 27-11 (71.1%) ATS, and since 2006 favorites in the nightcap are 12-2 (85.7%) ATS, per The Action Network.
