The deadline for federal funding registration is July 29th. This is the last day for people with related illnesses on September 11th, certified before July 29th, 2019.
The same deadline applies to families who have lost their loved ones certified before July 29, 2019.
Almost 20 years later, Courtney Cousins, a volunteer firefighter at the Syosset Fire Department, and Richard Roeill, a Merrick Fire Department, are fighting serious health problems related to the September 11, 2001 incident.
Thankfully, both my cousin and Roeill are funded to support the financial monitoring, treatment, medication, and financial impact of illness.
“Don’t set these benefits aside,” said his cousin. “Make the most of it to protect yourself and your family.”
My cousin was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and leukemia 10 years ago and later. He says he is alive today because of the health benefits he received through VCF.
“The World Trade Center Health Program is not only useful, it’s definitely a lifeline,” he said.
Both firefighters want to make sure that fellow first responders who provided support at Ground Zero are also registered, and on Thursday they talked about their struggle and the importance of registering with VCF. talked.
Roeill has worked closely with John Feal and the FealGood Foundation to assist dozens of first responders and civilians who may sign up and qualify for the program.
“There is a claim, then there is a registration,” he said. “Anyone can claim until 2090, when the bill expires, but to register, you must be certified by the World Trade Center Health Program by July 29.”
He talked about how easy it is to file an initial claim and the resources available to affected responders to support the application.
“The farther we are from 9/11, the harder it is for people to get affidavits and evidence that they were there, 20 years later,” he said.
The group was also attended by representatives of the New York State Fire Fighting Association, which represents 82,000 volunteer firefighters in New York State.
“Submit a claim,” said spokesman chief Robert Renard. “If you suspect the cause of the claim. If you were in Lower Manhattan during the affected period, you had to be there to be affected, but please file a claim with the VCF.”
Qualifications include not only first responders, but also students, office workers, and residents near the World Trade Center site.
Authorities say the VCF billing process has two deadlines: a billing deadline and a registration deadline. It is important to distinguish between the two and to recognize which one applies to your individual situation.
“Never Forget the Heroes, James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act” has fully invested in VCF and extended the VCF’s billing deadline to October 1, 2090.
The deadline for filing a complaint is the same for everyone. At VCF, your claim for compensation can be reviewed as soon as possible because your claimed loss is known after 9/11 related physical health status has been certified by the World Trade Center Health Program. .. The last day anyone can file a claim is October 1, 2090.
However, registration is not the same as filing a claim and you retain the right to file your claim in the future. It does not waive legal rights and is not obliged to file a claim with you, but registration serves only to warn the VCF that you may be a potential claimant and is stipulated by law. Meet the legal requirements for timeliness.
The registration deadline is not the same for everyone and depends on the individual situation.
