A 48-year-old man was on a north-bound Q train on Canal Street when he was shot in the chest late Sunday morning.
“According to witnesses, the suspect was walking back and forth on the same train, pulling out his gun and firing at the victim at close range without provocation,” said Kenneth Corey.
The suspect fired while the train was crossing the Manhattan Bridge. The suspect fled when the train was pulled to a station on Canal Street.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he died.
No arrests have been made. Police are still looking for shooters.
Police describe the suspect as having a dark beard-bearded complexion. The last thing he saw was a dark hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and white sneakers.
All northbound N and Q trains are running late while the NYPD is conducting an investigation on Canal Street.
