Man charged in violent Nassau County road rage case enters petition today

Nassau County, Florida – A man at the center of a violent road rage incident in which his daughter and another girl were shot in Nassau County will file a petition in court Thursday morning.

William Hale is He was charged with three counts of attempted second-degree murder.3 counts of aggravated assault, 1 count of shooting into vehicle Incident in October 2022.

The SUV driver, identified as Frank Gilliard Allison, who exchanged initial shots with Hale, was also initially arrested and charged with attempted murder.

The court ruled that Allison was acting in self-defense under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law when she opened fire.

According to the arrest report, Hale was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck with five people in it. Allison was driving a three-seat gray Nissan Murano.

Both men were reportedly driving erratically in the United States.

According to court documents, Hale stopped next to Nissan and yelled at Allison to stop. After Hale’s wife made an obscene gesture, Hale threw a plastic bottle at Nissan.

Reportedly, it wasn’t known exactly what hit his Nissan, but Allison fired one shot at Hale’s truck, hitting Hale’s 5-year-old daughter.

Reportedly, when Hale realized his daughter was injured, he pulled out his own gun and fired several shots at Alison’s SUV.

Alison’s 14-year-old daughter was shot in the back and had a collapsed lung. In her body camera footage, a child could be heard screaming, “Ouch!”

Both children survived their injuries.

According to the state attorney’s office, throwing anything at a moving vehicle is a felony, and Allison acted in self-defense.

Hale’s court appearance is set for Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Nassau County Courthouse.
