A man in Lee County is behind the bar after an investigator says he intentionally broke his dog’s leg.
Investigators responded Wednesday to their home on Jupiter Road, east of Fort Myers, after receiving reports of the mayhem. There, they found a two-year-old female terrier mix named Canella with a serious injury to her leg.
Investigation revealed that Jose Gustavo Hernandez Rivera had deliberately shook the broomstick on Canella’s hind legs, and she was clearly suffering from an injury. The veterinarian confirmed that the leg had broken.
Hernandez Rivera, 28, has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. He remains in Lee County Jail with a $ 20,000 bond.
“The violent explosion of this man seriously injured an unprotected dog,” said Sheriff Carmine Marseno. “Such behavior is unacceptable. It is clear that abuse of animals in Lee County will put them in jail.”
