A management assistant who stole more than $ 87,000 from Fort Myers Charter High School was sentenced to 40 months in prison on Wednesday, according to a news release from a state law firm.
Fort Myers’ Lisa Ambets, 61, was also sentenced to $ 87,484.68 in full compensation after being probated for 15 months in prison and convicted of a first-class fraud plan.
Betts was an administrative assistant and high school administration coordinator at the University of the Southwest High School. She was arrested and resigned in January after an investigation by the Economic Crimes Unit of a state law firm.
For the five years from 2014 to 2015, Betts was unable to deposit cash that required students to pay for various club accounts. She demanded that all payments be made to her, the release said.
During the same period, Betts deposited over $ 70,000 in unexplained cash into his personal bank account. Investigations also showed that checks from school sellers were deposited in her personal account.
