A missing college student from Pembroke Pines killed in Orlando has run away, FHP says

Pembroke Pines, Florida. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a college student who said an investigator stopped in Orlando on his way back from Tallahassee to South Florida was killed in a hit-and-run.

19-year-old Anthony Medias has been missing since Thursday, April 1. The FHP said it was beaten while walking on Orange Avenue around 2:28 am on Friday, April 2. FHP said it was attacked by a vehicle that had escaped from the scene. Medius was transferred to the Orlando Health Medical Center and died Saturday afternoon.

According to the FHP, Medius remained unidentified until her mother, Vivian Blanco, identified him in the medical examiner’s office on Thursday.

Blanco reported that he was missing and traveled to Orlando in search of her son. She went to TikTok earlier this week to ask for information.

She and her family posted a poster in Central Florida and posted a video of tears calling on the community to help her. “I need a son as soon as possible. I need to save him and he needs to be at home. He needs to be safe. He is a good boy. He is a wonderful son. “

Mejias was a graduate of West Broward High.

Investigators continue to look for the driver of the vehicle and ask anyone with information to call the FHP at (407) 737-2213.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for Mejias’ funeral expenses.
