126 of the large endangered cats died in 2021, according to Indian tiger conservation groups, the largest victims since they began editing data 10 years ago.
According to the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), recent deaths were recorded Wednesday in the central state of Madhya Pradesh.
Before authorities began editing data in 2012, the highest number of deaths to date in 2016 was in 2016, with 121 deaths.
India is home to about 75 percent of the world’s tigers.
Two years ago, the government announced that its population had increased from a record low of 1,411 in 2006 to 2,967 in 2018. This is the result of what was praised as “historical” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This may have partially extended to the survey size, but it used an unprecedented number of camera traps to identify individual tigers using striped recognition software.
Human invasion above tiger In a country of 1.3 billion people, habitat has increased in recent decades.
According to government statistics, nearly 225 people were killed in the tiger attack between 2014 and 2019.
The government has endeavored to better manage tiger populations, but has secured 50 habitats nationwide for animals.
