Belmont, Bronx (WABC)-The second of the two police officers shot on Wednesday was released from the hospital.

The incident took place Wednesday at about 8:15 pm on East 187th Street and Beaumont Avenue in the Belmont section.

A video obtained by Eyewitness News shows that police officers had little opportunity to talk to him before he fired.

According to NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, police received a 911 call about a man with a gun at the location.

Two police officers responded and the surveillance video shows what happened when they arrived.

Police officers confront the suspects they perceive from the explanations they were given. The suspect picked up a gun and the struggle continued. Meanwhile, the suspect fired at the police.

The female police officer returned to the shooting battle, firing five times, and the suspect was shot dead three times. All three were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital.

“We have a lot to thank,” the commissioner added, adding that no life was lost in the incident.

Police recovered the suspect’s gun at the scene. He has been identified as Charlie Vazquez at Greenpoint in Brooklyn. He has several previous arrests, including possession of weapons.

They said the gun was reported stolen from Georgia.
