According to Barrys, the relationship aims to “incorporate unparalleled innovation, objectivity and gamification into combat sports, thereby changing fan involvement.”

The initiative was officially announced this week when both sides aired a pilot version. Oscar de la Jolla’s KO Entertainment presents Bally’s Fight Night – Rethinking how boxing and MMA sports are presented, and the first development in 2.0 games of combat sports.

At this event, five professional MMAs and four professional boxing contests were presented in a video game format presentation. Using sensors and a custom-built data tracking dashboard, a variety of objective data points were captured in real time, including punching forces and combinations of thrown and landed punches.

Through the use of sports science, data is transmitted to on-screen powerbars similar to those displayed in video games, summarizing the total absorbed damage of a fighter. Bally’s and KO Entertainment argue that collecting, analyzing, and integrating this data into future broadcasts can create a more rewarding and safe experience for fighters while at the same time increasing transparency.
