Be Kind: Long Island dance student sends birthday card to boy with autism

Great Neck, Long Island (WABC) — A story from earlier this month was the inspiration for “Be Kind.”

The family of an autistic boy named Austin, Georgia, asked a stranger to send him a birthday card for his 9th birthday after no one showed up for an earlier birthday party.

A teacher at Anne-Marie’s Studio of Performing Arts in Great Neck told the story to her students, and they got to work.

The students made about 40 cards and sent them to Austin, along with the stuffed animals and T-shirts, so Austin knows he has friends in New York.

The students were thrilled to hear that Austin had received the cards and were delighted to read them.
