Billy Napier on prospects for first fall soccer camp in Florida

Competition and team building were two buzzwords of the first year florida football coach Billy Napier During Tuesday’s speech before Wednesday’s fall practice begins.

“We want to build a tough team,” Napier said. “I think we all know what we are ready to tackle in terms of challenges.I want to build a tough team that can handle adversity and overcome obstacles.The team and I We prepare to play, set up, and practice with the gauntlet in front of us.”

Florida is coming off a 6-7 season, their worst since 2017, with Napier replacing Dan Mullen as head coach.From spring to summer, Napier unity and discipline, to requiring players to wear the correct socks to practice. Napier hopes the attention to detail will be reflected on the field as UF struggled last season in disciplined areas of the game like turnovers and penalties.

Gators camp expected to be ‘very competitive’

“The gray area is the enemy,” Napier said.

With new coaches and new staff, the camp offers many positional battle opportunities. Especially at running backs, offensive line and secondary.

“Training camp is as if you have to attend,” Napier said. “It’s a very competitive event where every opportunity has to be handled.
