Miami Gardens, Florida (AP) — Police said a three-year-old boy died after being left in a car outside a kindergarten in South Florida, where his parents were staff.
The Miami Herald reported that the child was one of several children in the same family attending the Lubavic Educational Center in Miami Gardens.
The outside temperature was in the mid 90’s Fahrenheit. The unresponsive child was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead. Herald reported that the boy’s father had been interviewed by police late Monday.
“This tragedy happened near my house, and much of our school community was affected by it,” Rabbi Benzion Corf, director of the center’s department, said in a short statement released late Monday. The heartbreak and sadness we feel cannot be captured in words. “
Corf said on Tuesday that the center staff and students will have access to therapists and grief counselors.
