Bubba Wallace Signs New Deal With NASCAR’s Michael Jordan Team

Bubba Wallace’s recent good performances have paid off on the track, in the points standings and now elsewhere.

Wallace and his No. 23 NASCAR race team — with the 23XI organization owned by fellow driver Denny Hamlin Basketball legend Michael Jordan — on Friday announced a multi-year extension to the 28-year-old racer’s contract.

Wallace, who has been with the team since its debut season in 2021, said: “It feels great to have completed this renewal and to know that 23XI Racing has a home. We have come a long way in less than two years and managed to achieve some major goals such as the team’s first win and first pole.”

Bubba Wallace was the first driver hired for the 23XI race and looks set to remain with the team for years to come.

Wallace, who took his first Cup Series win at Talladega last October, has spent much of this season looking for consistency, with his team often struggling in the pits. But this past month he’s been a regular in Reid’s pack, and in the last four weeks he’s finished 3rd, 8th, 5th and 2nd.

He moved from 24th to 19th in the points standings during that stretch.

“Bubba played a key role in the early stages of 23XI and we are excited to have him continue with the team,” Hamlin said. “When we announced Bubba as our first driver, our goal was to help take his career to the next level, and we have done just that.”

The No. 23 Toyota has been a familiar sight among the lead pack this past month.

Just a few weeks ago, the team announced the signing of Tyler Reddick for the 2024 season. Reddick has signed this year and all of his 2023 with Richard He Childless Racing. He won his maiden Cup win at his course on the Road of Indianapolis two weeks before him.
