Video shows five Cuban immigrants on small boat arriving in Florida Keys

Florida Marathon – Five Cuban migrants landed in the Florida Keys on Tuesday morning, according to a senior US Border Patrol officer.

Video from eyewitnesses shows the group landing on Sombrero Beach in a homemade boat.

Walter N. Slother, the chief patrol agent who heads the agency’s Miami division, confirmed that agents had detained five Cuban immigrants.

Witnesses said the migrants were wet with oil and fuel.

“A Cuban boat came in with six people on board,” an eyewitness told Local 10 News. “They were happy. They were wet, all wet, a little oily. There was oil all over the boat.”

A green homemade boat was seen being relocated to the nearby mangroves.

Some beachgoers said they found bags of fruit and homemade bars inside the boat.

Slosar has not confirmed whether the migrants were injured.

They will be deported to Cuba.
