The principal and vice-principal of Hector Cafe Rata Junior Elementary School have come up with ways to encourage students to read more. They camped on the roof of a junior high school overnight.
Before that, students had to read 30 million words this semester. From 5 pm to 8 pm, they kept the gate open to see the students dancing and throwing candies.
When it started to rain around 4:30 am, both were hit by heavy rain.
The admin may not have slept soundly, but said it was worth it.
“I wasn’t as young as I used to be,” says school principal Dr. Jason Curts. “In other words, my back doesn’t hold up very well.
In the fall, I hope to come up with another task for the students to read and enjoy.
