Over 100 people gathered at Cape Coral to celebrate Hanukkah’s first day. Cape Coral Habad is located along the Cape Coral Parkway.
The lighting ceremony of the candlestick of the main branch was held early in the evening.
Participants say the festival sheds light on their religious beliefs. Russell Crakow lives in Cape Coral.
“It sheds light on the world, and now more than ever we need more light to help get rid of evil and show the positiveness of life,” said Krakow.
Cynthia Fairman lives in Fort Myers. “Judaism is not as well recognized as Christmas time or Hanukkah, so it’s very important to make sure you tell others about Judaism and our religion,” Fairman said.
The first candle was lit on Sunday night, the first day of the celebration.
