“During this trial, you learned about the darkest times of my life. That moment was fueled by a vulgar, nasty, and completely false story that was repeatedly and relentlessly shared online. I thought I would never hear or prove it and felt completely helpless and defenseless. I never took for granted the platform my fame gives me. So for more than three years I have devoted all the resources I had to seek justice. And not just justice for me. The truth is that the intentional harm done to me is The only difference between me and a high school student lying under a cyberattack from my classmates is the money and resources I have access to. We are doing it to countless others every day. We must say that it’s collective enough. We can no longer be a society that blinds to explicit lies. Unchecked behavior and perhaps false content on platforms like YouTube. , Need to be dealt with and removed. The constant harassment and lies reported as facts by journalists and bloggers must be ended. “
Cardy’s continuous statement
“My career started with social media, so I know the power it has. Over the last few years, social media platforms have been the most important and necessary conversations such as Black Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate, and Women’s Rights. We’ve seen how we could bring it to the front lines, but there are countless stories of children and adults deciding to take their lives because of online bullying and deliberate attacks. Therefore, I am very grateful that this trial has ended and the jury provided a powerful and substantive message, but literally my experience has made us all, especially this action a part. I really want to force a platform that allows us to do so to rethink what drives us as a society and what cripples us.
