“This is my purpose,” Sanchez said. “I’m trying to make a mark. I’m trying to educate. I’m trying to help the lives of as many animals as possible.”

Sanchez grew up in an abusive family, but found comfort in his family dog, Toby.

“We had a Doberman, and he was just the best in the world,” Sanchez said. “We were poor and a lot of abuse. Toby was the one who never showed it to me, he just showed me love.”

In an unfortunate incident, Toby was killed by a relative and turned the world of Sanchez upside down.

“The moment we lost him, it was as if we had lost everything,” Sanchez said. “I knew the animals that came across my way would be, because I knew that Toby would take them to my way.”

Since 2007, Sanchez has saved hundreds of animals from abuse, neglect, and homeless camp animals.

“These animals are badly abused,” Sanchez said. “Whatever their problem we see from abuse, we will deal with it.”

The adoption event at the pet shop was canceled during the shutdown of Covid-19. Rescue volunteers opened their homes to host a small adoption to continue their rescue efforts.

“Whoever adopts us, you are now part of our family,” Sanchez said. “We want you to know that we are grateful to you and that you love you because you love them the way you should have loved them from the beginning.”

Saving animals from abuse and putting them in a beloved home can be a daunting task. But Sanchez has no other way.

“In the end it’s all worth it. These great adopters who treat animals like a family. You can see these babies very happy and very loved. It’s a big satisfaction to me. Makes you feel. “
