COVID NYC Update: Barclays Center Welcomes Nets Fans for the First Time in Almost a Year

New York City (WABC)-Nets will host the first home game with fans at Barclays Center in Brooklyn tonight within almost a year.

The arena has been used for voting over the past year. Otherwise it was quiet.

And it’s not just basketball fans who are excited-think about all the businesses around you!

At arenas in the state with more than 10,000 seats, major precautions have been taken to allow guests to return inside with 10% of their capacity.

These include mandatory PCR tests from each participant within 72 hours of game time.

At Barclays Center, the net offers free quick inspections to anyone passing through the door.

Then, when you step inside, you will find an assigned, socially distant seat.

There are three main seating areas, each of which is divided into two or four fan pods.

“I have a QR code on my cell phone,” said Adina Irwin, general manager of Barclays Center. “And you can look at the menu and order your food, and the food will be brought to you. So it’s more in-seat service.”

And Nets welcomed James Harden to the team this year. Needless to say, he is excited about this development with everyone else.

“I can’t wait! I’m excited!” He said. “It’s one of the reasons I wanted to go to Brooklyn because I have fans. It’s incredible. Just to get excited, the extra energy in the crowd will obviously be exciting for the whole team. . “

The net will start with hundreds of fans tonight, with up to 1800 on the stands after the all-star break.

Madison Square Garden is also preparing for fans.

Knicks will host the Golden State Warriors in front of about 2,000 fans on Tuesday, followed by Rangers vs. Boston Bruins on February 26th.

New Jersey is not far behind New York, with fans having 10% indoor capacity and 15% outdoor capacity since Monday.

Meanwhile, New Yorkers are also getting another option for entertainment.

The cinema has been closed for almost a year and is allowed to reopen next week with 25% capacity.

You will need a mask and an assigned seat.
