COVID NYC Update: Citi Field Vaccination Megasite Shift to Make Space for Mets Fans

New York City (WABC)-Vaccinations in Citi Field are up and running 24 hours a day as the facility prepares for the next baseball season, but will be removed from public areas today.

In less than a month, Mets will host a home opener at the stadium in front of a 10% capacity, approximately 1,000 spectators.

This means that the COVID vaccination megasite installed at the facility needs to be moved for the fans.

The vaccination center will move from Jackie Robinson Rotunda to McFadden’s sports bars and restaurants, but will not have access to the facility’s concourse.

April 8th is Mets’ home opener.

Citi Field’s Vaccination Megasite opened in February, immunizing as many as 2,000 people a day.

This week, the site makes an average of 500 to 1,000 reservations daily, depending on the vaccine supply available.

Similar immunization facility adjustments are expected at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees home opener is April 1st.
