New York (WABC)-There is growing concern about potential COVID superspreader events.

Federal and local health officials are closely watching South Florida, where thousands of young people flock to beaches and bars for traditional spring break celebrations.

There are also concerns about the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night.

Only a few people can enter the arena, but many fans still can’t stop traveling to Atlanta hoping to get a glimpse of their favorite players.

British students in a virus-tested class

British children are preparing to return to school on Monday after a two-month closure. Part of what Prime Minister Boris Johnson said was a plan to “start to bring the country closer to normal.” As part of the plan, millions of high school and college students returning to the UK classroom will be tested for the first few weeks. Authorities want to quickly detect and isolate asymptomatic cases to avoid sending the entire school home.

New Caledonia is blocked when an infectious disease occurs
Local governments have ordered New Caledonia, the French archipelago in the South Pacific, to blockade for at least two weeks to prevent the spread of the virus. This decision will be made on Sunday after nine new infections have been identified. “The risk of the virus starting to circulate is very high,” said President Thierry Santa of the Caledonian government in the archipelago.

Israel in the final stages of blockade mitigation
Israel has opened most of its economy as part of the final phase of lifting the coronavirus blockade restrictions. Some of them have been implemented since September. Bars, restaurants, event halls, sporting events, hotels, and all primary and secondary education may be open to the public on Sundays, but admission and capacity are limited. This move occurs after several months of government-imposed closures.
