Five dead in Philadelphia shooting: teenage bride and teenage father try to save friend

Five people were shot Monday in a working-class neighborhood in Philadelphia, making it the deadliest mass shooting in the United States around the Fourth of July holiday. “It’s immense,” she said. “I can’t believe I can’t even walk out the front door.”

The 59-year-old spent weeks planning what to wear so as not to fail during rehearsals for his first child’s wedding. Moralis was always happy to lend his hand.

“Whether he needed to build a bike for the kids or his cousin was saying, ‘I have to go to Florida,’ he was the go-to guy.” ? ‘ she said. “He would. He was always there for his family and he was always happy to help.”

“With such a great attitude, such a positive outlook on life, it seems like luck is on the way,” he said. “That’s why I couldn’t believe this happened to him.”

On Wednesday, Wummer’s twin sister Josephine and another sister, Jasmine, spoke furiously at a press conference for the brothers who gave everyone a smile and a hug.

“I still can’t believe my brother is gone. And I don’t understand why this happened. He was a kind soul. He was kind to everyone,” said Josephine Wummer. rice field.

Wummer also loved to cook, despite having little culinary talent. But his real talent was as an artist, his sister said.

“His cooking was the worst. We still ate it because he just… tried. He couldn’t cook, but he could sketch his butt,” says Josephine Wummer said. “He was very detailed and very passionate. He was very rooted and down to earth. I made it.”

Josephine Wama says she plans to find all of her brother’s artwork and share his talent with the world.

Rasheed Merritt’s mother told Philadelphia’s WPVI-TV that her son was a good boy who loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He loved buying presents for Christmas.

Marie Merritt said Rasheed Merritt, who would have turned 22 in September, went out to buy snacks during a break from work on Monday.

“I don’t understand why people have anger inside them. I don’t understand why my neighbors have those kinds of things like guns. I don’t understand it,” Marie Merritt said. . “And you’re just robbing good people.”

She wants the shooting suspect to “rot in jail.” She also thinks about how her son will feel.

Dajuan Brown: Killed while helping a friend

Dahuan Brown’s mother, Nashaya Thomas, told WCAU-TV her teenage son was walking to the store when the shooting started. Brown had been shot and helped a 13-year-old friend who had been shot twice in the leg.

He was someone people couldn’t help falling in love with.

“He lost his life trying to do a selfless act,” she said. “And so was he when he was here.”
