Emotionally confused man allegedly holding a taser gun on the Lower East Side, police also fire

Lower East Side, Manhattan (WABC)-On Friday morning, an emotionally confused man was hospitalized after a horrific incident on the Lower East Side.

The NYPD says it was the first to learn about a man threatening a customer in the “The Butchers Daughter” area of Kenmare Street.

Only a few minutes later, at 8:37 am, there was another phone call about a man harassing an elderly person with two knives at the intersection of Elizabeth and Grand Streets.

Police caught up with him in front of 95 East Huston Street at around 8:55 am. They tried to taser him but failed.

At that time, a policeman fired, but no one was hit.

Then they tried to taser him again, but this time they succeeded and he was detained.

A local resident named Monica explained the situation.

“When I was climbing Lafayette on the morning coffee walk, I heard a bit of noise, and when I saw this man running through Lafayette with two butcher knives, it was as if he was running around. Sometimes it was like having it like this: “Witness Monica said.” And two men were chasing him. Perhaps they were police officers and a good citizen to me. I thought it was very brave to chase a man with two knives. This man is crazy, he starts running, “I said.

She said the knife was pretty big.

“Knife points were pointing out, probably at least 8 inches away, like a butcher knife. I was scared,” Monica said. “I’m very happy that no one else was injured.”

A 25-year-old man was taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation.
