Expected gusts on Sunday

Weekends begin today with cloudy skies and highs of the 70’s, but on Sundays the weather changes dramatically as strong cold fronts hit the area.

On the cold front, showers and thunderstorms hit the area on Sunday mornings. Some of these storms range from strong to intense, and the main threat is to damage 60 mph gusts and isolated tornadoes. The serious threat ends rapidly from west to east by noon on Sunday. In the afternoon it is cool and windy behind the front, but clouds and prolonged showers can hang.

Weekdays start in the chilly days, with highs on Mondays and Tuesdays in the 1960s and lows in the 1940s.
