Explosion on the subway after throwing a bicycle on the Astoria railroad tracks

Astoria, Queens (WABC)-Dramatic video shows a subway explosion that may have been caused by a bicycle being thrown into a railroad track in Queens.

It happened on Sunday night at Steinway Street Station in Astoria.

Two trains, the R train to Manhattan and the R train to Forest Hills, collide with a part of a city bike or bicycle.

Derrick Waller is conducting an up-to-date investigation into the death of Gabby Petit.

The drivers of both trains have applied emergency braking.

“This was an attack on the entire New York City in the transportation system,” said MTA spokesman Tim Minton. “The villain who threw the bike into the path of an approaching train should be prosecuted for recklessly ignoring the safety of subway passengers and workers.”

The NYPD said the case was under investigation.
