Last week, the company issued a voluntary recall after an FDA examination revealed a rodent invasion at a facility in Arkansas.

The recall said, “Various products purchased from family dollar stores in six states during the last year were contaminated and may not be safe to use.” Items ranging from medicines to pet food were included in the recall.

The news release also states that a variety of products were sold in “hundreds of stores” in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee.

Family Dollar also said it was not aware of consumer complaints at this time. “Family Dollar has notified the affected stores in a letter asking them to check inventory immediately and quarantine and discontinue the sale of the affected product. Customers who may have done so can return such products to the Family Dollar Store where they purchased them without a receipt, “the company said.

Some stores have also been closed, according to CNN. “We take this situation very seriously and are committed to providing our customers with safe and high quality products. We work fully with all regulatory agencies in resolving this issue. We are in the process of fixing the problem, “said spokesman Kaley Campbell.
