Family prays for teens in serious condition after Crash claims father, sister

Hendry County

The family is praying for a miracle. One of their loved ones is fighting for her life after the other two were involved in a fatal crash.

The Garindo family held a candlelight vigil on Friday. The family was shocked, but hoped for 13-year-old Keena Garindo, who was seriously injured in the murder of his father and sister in Hendry County.

“I can’t even imagine losing her,” Brenda said. “If I lose her, I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I will survive, man.”

On Wednesday night, Keana’s mother, Brenda Garindo, lost her 14-year-old daughter Ariana and her husband Enedino Garindo, 42. State Highway 80 when Enedino drove from a driveway at a friend’s house.

Anastasia Garindo lost her father and sister in a crash and is praying for another sister at the hospital.

“She was crying when we heard us talking,” Anastasia said. “She clasped my mother’s hand.”

But Kina is still fighting for her life.

“We don’t tell her what happened to her sister and father,” Anastasia said. “We want to make sure she’s okay before she knows that.”

On alert, nearly 100 loved ones shed their tears to focus on their favorite memories.

“She always smiles. She keeps you happy. She always says she loves me,” Brenda said. “If he can give the last person the last dollar, he will. He is the best, the man. He is also the best dad.”

The family said Kina had surgery, and she is recovering from a cerebral hemorrhage. They will give another alert on Saturday at the Immokalee where Enedino Garindo grew up.

The Garindos cannot mourn while Kina’s life is still at stake.

“Pray for my baby,” Brenda said. “If I lose her, I don’t know what I’ll do, so I need her to come out well.”
