Fatal Crash: A 77-year-old woman was killed in a car accident at the Vanwick Expressway in Queens, police say

From Queens, NY-A 77-year-old woman was killed in a car accident on a New York City highway on Sunday morning.

Police responded to a fatal accident at around 3:20 am in the southbound lane of the Vanwick Expressway near 116th Avenue in Queens.

They say a 77-year-old woman was found dead on the scene.

Preliminary research revealed that the BMW X6 was moving southward on Vanwick when it collided behind the Nissan Altima, which was also moving southward.

BMW then hit behind the Toyota Camry traveling south.

According to police, BMW then lost control and crossed the guardrail and landed on a side road on the Vanwick Highway near 116th Avenue.

They say BMW’s female drivers ran away on foot.
A 38-year-old man driving Nissan was slightly injured and was taken to the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in a stable condition.

The 77-year-old woman who was killed was in the passenger seat of the Nissan Altima. She has not been identified yet.

A 40-year-old man driving a Toyota was also slightly injured and taken to the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

Investigation is ongoing.
