A team of researchers from several institutions in the United Arab Emirates and the United States will allow lizards to maintain their tails during normal activity and release their tails when predators need to be avoided. I discovered the mechanism. In their paper published in the journal Chemistry, The group explains the use of different types of microscopes to study the anatomy of the lizard’s tail. Animangsu Ghatak, along with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, published a perspective article explaining the researcher’s research in the same journal issue.

Many species of Lizards Tail can be dropped to escape predators, and previous studies have revealed such a segmented anatomy of the tail. However, until now, the quick release mechanism involved in dropping the tail was not well understood. In this new effort, researchers have taken a very close look at all the parts involved in tail shedding and created a physical model to mimic how the process works.

The work began by pulling on the lizard’s tail strong enough to encourage the lizard to let go. Then cut off the torn edge from the end of the tail and examine it under a microscope.

Researchers have discovered that both ends are covered with micropillars bundled in the shape of a mushroom. The tip of each micropillar is covered with nanopores, which researchers have described as acting like a plug that fits into a socket. When the lizard dropped its tail, it was found that the plug had been pulled out of the socket.

Next, the researchers created a physical model of the tail to learn more about how all tail parts work together. They found that plugs and sockets allow for strong adhesion even under stress. But when the lizard twists its tail in a particular way, plug When socket Broken, permission tail drop down. They suggest that their models may be useful for other attempts such as creating robotic limbs.
