Researchers have discovered that both ends are covered with micropillars bundled in the shape of a mushroom. The tip of each micropillar is covered with nanopores, which researchers have described as acting like a plug that fits into a socket. Next, the researchers created a physical model of the tail to learn more about how all tail parts work together. They found that plugs and sockets allow for strong adhesion even under stress.
