5-year-old girl drowns in Clay County

orange park, florida – A 5-year-old girl apparently drowned Tuesday at her home on Hilltop Drive in Orange Park, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Clay County legislators and the Clay County Fire and Rescue Team were called to the home after receiving a report of the drowning and found the child unresponsive in the backyard pool.

Despite life-saving measures, the girl died at the hospital, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators said they have no suspicion of foul play at this time, but are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the drowning.

They declined to release further details.
