Cold front brings scattered Friday rains to southwestern Florida

Temperatures will reach 60 to 70 degrees, with more clouds in the morning. This is largely due to the approaching cold front that hits South Florida in the morning and afternoon. Boaters can expect choppy waters in our coves and wave heights of 2-6 feet in the bay.

A cold front could bring sporadic rainfall to the area, keeping it breezy and dry for the rest of the day. Residents of Sarasota, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties may experience these showers and mild storms in the morning. These rain chances move south and east in the late morning and afternoon.

This would bring the front to places like Collier and Hendry counties in the morning and afternoon. No bad weather is expected with this system. Lightning, gusts and heavy rain are the main effects.

On the other side of this cold front, temperatures drop significantly. On Saturday the maximum temperature will drop from he 50 degrees to he 60 degrees and on Sunday morning there will be a “felt” temperature of 30 degrees.
