Hudson Yards ship closed again after another suicide

Hudson Yards in Manhattan (WABC)-Two months after the Hudson Yards ship reopened with a new focus on suicide prevention, the structure regained after another young adult died there on Thursday. It was closed.

Officials said a 14-year-old boy was found in front of the building shortly before 1 pm and was sentenced to death at the scene.

He seemed to be with his family at the time, jumping off about the eighth floor of a 150-foot-high building.

“We are deeply moved by this tragedy and ponder the family of a young man who died,” said Kimberly Winston, a spokesman for Hudson Yards. “We are conducting a full investigation. The vessel is currently closed.”

He is the fourth person to commit suicide on board since the port opened two years ago.

To fight death, visitors no longer need to explore the structure and must be with at least one other person.

Staff and security forces have tripled in size and have been marked to help those in need.
