Intelligence suggests potential threat from militia groups on Thursday

Washington (NewsNation Now) — US Capitol Police have received information suggesting that a militia group could invade the Capitol building on Thursday.

The ministry announced on Wednesday that they had increased security and that government agencies were “preparing for a potential threat to the House of Representatives or the Houses of Parliament.”

“We were informed of plans to defeat the Capitol by a militia group identified on Thursday, March 4,” the department wrote in a statement. “We are already undergoing major security upgrades, including establishing physical structures and increasing staff to ensure the protection of Congress, the general public and police officers.”

Officers are working with local, state, and federal agencies to prevent future threats to the Capitol, the ministry said.

Parliamentary police were unable to provide further details on alleged plots, militia groups, or security preparations because of “confidentiality of this information.”

“We take intelligence seriously,” said the department.

Tuesday, USA CApitor police issued a statement “I knew about the information and intelligence about March 4,” he said. Based on intelligence, authorities have taken swift steps to strengthen their security regimes and staffing for several days, including March 4, “said the agency.

Thousands of National Guard are still patrolling the Houses of Parliament after former President Donald Trump’s supporters attacked the Federal Building on January 6. Five people were killed as a result of the riot.

Several parliamentary committees have begun investigating the mistakes that took place on January 6. On Wednesday, Senator asked national security officials in a hearing about the failure to respond to the Capitol attack.
