Inter Miami transfer news

We have to be realistic here – Inter Miami did not get the results that the fans wanted in the 2021 season. The team ended in the 11th position in MLS with 12 victories, 5 draws, and 17 losses just behind Montreal. With the 2022 season drawing near and February 26th knocking on our door, the Inter Miami management isn’t wasting its time and changes in the squad are already happening despite the time remaining before the start of the new season.

Departures

Right off the bat, we have to mention that sadly one of Inter Miami’s most prolific players Ryan Shawcross has decided to retire from professional soccer at the age of 34 and he and the team agreed on a mutual termination of his contract.

“I’d like to thank Chris Henderson, Phil Neville, the Inter Miami management, and the fans for providing me the opportunity to be here – I have really enjoyed the experience and being a part of this incredible project,” said Shawcross in the release. He stated that despite an injury forcing him out of soccer his love for the game is intact and with his coaching license in his pocket he is looking forward to the opportunity that a coaching career will bring.

Furthermore, Christian Makoun has left the team for the new club in MLS – Charlotte FC – the 21-year-old defensive midfielder will be a key part of the Charlotte FC squad.

Meanwhile, MLS offers more interesting transfers with Leandro Gonzalez Pirez being loaned out to the giants from Argentina River Plate. The loan will be until 2023 and River Plate has the option to buy should the center-back prove worthy. The Argentinian player said he is happy to be returning to his former club and chances for a permanent deal are there.

New arrivals

The Inter Miami transfer rumors that we hear recently – that Blaise Matuidi will not be returning for the new season with the club due to unimpressive performances are likely to become more than rumors with the new arrival of Jean Mota from Santos FC from Brazil. The player plays in the same position as the French world cup winner and it is unlikely that he will be a bench player.

“I am very excited to give my very best for the pitch and create some great memories with the club,” said Mota in a release.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami secured the signing of Victor Ulloa with a two-year deal through the 2023 season. Chris Henderson said that the management of the club is very happy that they and Victor Ulloa shook hands on this long-awaited return. We are expecting that the team’s midfield will be something else with this new partnership between Victor Ulloa and Jean Mota.

And the final touch in the midfield during this offseason will have to be Bryce Duke. Inter Miami acquired his service from LAFC in an exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money. The attacking midfielder has yet to make a name for himself in MLS but he has true talent and with the careful coaching of our experienced manager Phil Neville he could turn out to be a true gem for the club.

With all the departures and new arrivals to the club, we can make as many guesses as we want about how the team will look but we will have to wait and find for ourselves for the 27th of February when Inter Miami takes on Chicago Fire.
