Semillon Barramov was named the NHL’s third star on Monday after the Islanders goalkeeper set a record for the team with the longest shutout streak.
Former goalkeeper partner Thomas Grace of Bharamov was the first star in the league after two shutouts in the Red Wings. Oilers’ Connor McDavid was the second star, scoring 4 goals and 6 assists in four games.
Barramov defeated the Rangers 4-0 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday and 3-0 at the Nassau Coliseum on Saturday, stopping all 53 total shots. Varlamov, who has the NHL’s best seven shutouts, extended his shutout streak to 212:57. This surpassed the old club mark of 178:29 in Chicolesh, which was set in 1975-76.
Grace lost to the Blue Jackets with a 1-0 shootout last Tuesday and beat Lightning with a 1-0 shootout last Saturday, stopping all 66 shots he faced. Grace, who was with the Islanders at the time, was also named the NHL’s first star of the week on March 18, 2019.
