Seven children, two adults injured after car crashes into school at Wimbledon near tennis tournament

London – London police said Thursday that seven children and two adults were injured after a car plowed into a primary school on a very narrow road in Wimbledon, southwest London.

London Metropolitan Police said the incident was not being treated as terrorism-related.

At 9:54 a.m., police, along with ground and air ambulance paramedics, were called to The Study girls’ school.

Police added that the driver of the vehicle, believed to be a Land Rover, was stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.

Wimbledon MP Stephen Hammond said: “From what I understand, and given the scale of the emergency response, a lot of people are seriously injured. This is a very serious incident.” Stated.

The incident occurred about a mile from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which hosts the world-famous Wimbledon tennis tournament. Unlike Grand Slam tournaments, the school is located in a fairly remote area surrounded by local parks, racetracks and golf courses.

The police had set up a large cordon around the school, and overhead TV footage showed a car crashing into the wall of the building.
