Family and friends lay to rest a week after 13-year-old boy was shot dead by car

jacksonville, florida –Family, friends and members of the community gathered at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church on Edgewood Avenue on Saturday to honor and remember the life of Prince Holland.

A 13-year-old boy’s life was cut short a week ago by a drive-by shooting in Northwest Jacksonville.

Loved ones shared memories and shed tears on Saturday when they said their final goodbyes.

“Our godson left us with beautiful memories. His love is still my guide. godparents said.

“You were the life of every party. You planned everything when you were little. Football was your life’s goal,” said one of Holland’s sisters.

On Friday, Prince Holland’s mother, Shantel Browne, invited the community to her son’s funeral and memorial service.

She said Holland loves the Kansas City Chiefs, and asked that everyone who was planning to come to the funeral wear red and gold.

A Dutch Kansas City Chiefs-themed coffin also contained a picture of him.

Singing at the memorial service on Saturday, Brown acknowledged on Facebook the flood of love and support she has received since her son’s passing.

Holland was one of five people in the SUV that was hit by the hail of gunfire. took the life of a 13-year-old boy and injured two others.

A visit to Holland was held Friday night at the QL Douglas Funeral Home on Edison Avenue in Mixon Town. Among those in attendance was Jacksonville Sheriff TK Waters.

“I just wanted to come here and show my respect and support,” Waters said.

No arrests have been made in the incident, but Waters said the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department is following several leads to find those responsible for the shooting.
