Man shot by JSO in Arlington apartment complex after being shot

jacksonville, florida – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says a 23-year-old man is undergoing surgery after being shot by police in the plaza of the 59 Caroline Apartment Complex. The apartments were formerly known as Caroline Square Apartments.

Police say 23-year-old Darius Robinson was among a group armed with pistols and called his mother to tell her that people had broken into her apartment and were armed and threatening to shoot him. His mother called the police, who responded and were stationed in front of and behind the apartment. The JSO said Robinson broke the window and opened fire.

Police say Robinson raised a gun at the officers. The officer fired three times. The JSO immediately made a rescue and called for rescue to the location where Robinson had been transported.

It was the officer’s first police-involved shooting. This is the sixth police shooting incident involving the JSO this year.

Police say they broke into the apartment due to the nature of the initial calls about other armed people. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
