Lee was initially a weekend forecaster. This video is one of his first reports on Eyewitness News.
Lee looked back on this anniversary in today’s Facebook post:
25 years on channel 7
Since the first meteorological station set up by Blizzard and my dad in 1978, all I wanted to do was predict the weather and help people plan. Twenty-five years ago today, Eyewitness News brass handed a lottery ticket to a 23-year-old child.
My first weathercast featured straight, sunny stretches, but I practiced my presentation in front of the mirror for hours before the show. At the time, I knew how lucky I was to get a job in New York, but later I learned how special it was to get a job at a WABC-TV New York institution.
Thanks to Ma, Dad, and Scott for providing maximum support behind the unusual career choices. Thanks to Jessica, Emily and Ethan for dealing with their distracting husband and father. Arashi is my squirrel.
Thanks to my colleagues for showing me the blueprint for longevity, they encouraged me to reach new heights every day and keep me growing.
Last but not least, I would like to thank the viewers for allowing me to do what I love while supporting the Red Sox. You were incredible to me and my family. My career is really fascinating. Hopefully this is just half the time.
