Lifeguard may have been bitten by a shark at Jones Beach

Jones Beach (WABC) on Long Island-A guard at Jones Beach State Park may have been bitten by a shark underwater.

The incident was reported near Central Mall around 11:00 am on Monday.

Soon the beach was interrupted and police flew over the drone to inspect the water.

On-site EMT provided lifeguards with initial treatment. The lifeguard was referred to a local hospital for further testing and treatment.

The beach began swimming again at 2:05 pm after no sightings were available on the drone’s flight.

Investigations into the nature of bites are ongoing.

NYS Parks said it is not yet clear whether it is a shark or another form of marine life.
