A 71-year-old Republican announced on Twitter on Friday morning.
“I’m in! California is worth the fight,” she wrote.
Jenner has joined the field of candidates hoping to replace Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom in a possible recall later this year.
“This is a solution campaign, providing a roadmap to return to prosperity, turning the situation around and ultimately wiping out the damage that Newsom has done to the situation,” Jenner said.
In a press release, Jenner said he would stop campaigning across the states, including the Bay Area, Southern California and the Central Valley.
As expected, voters will be asked two questions if the recall is eligible for voting. The first is whether Newsom should be dismissed. The second is a list of alternative candidates that more than 50% of voters choose if they support Newsom’s dismissal.
This effort is heavily supported by Newsum’s criticism of the pandemic response. Republicans include former San Diego mayor Kevin Fallconner, former US lawmaker Doug Ose, and businessman John Cox, who lost to Newsom in the 2018 governor’s election.
