The Carnival Cruise Line Mardi Gras departs from Port Canaveral on July 31st, alternating between the eastern and western Caribbean Sea for a seven-day excursion.

At the Miss Universe in May, Jimenez was awarded the “Spirit of Carnival” award for embodying the value of the company’s enjoyment, friendship, diversity and inclusion, and was honored to be the godfather of the ship.
Most of Saturday’s hour-long ceremonies at Mardi Gras’ main theater were high-tech multimedia celebrations. But in honor of tradition, Jimenez wanted the ship and its crew to be “smooth seas and subsequent winds.” She officially named the ship Mardi Gras.
Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy said that Mardi Gras’ debut in Port Canaveral this summer was “a symbol of great excitement and renewal for us” and “hope” when the cruise line returned to its next voyage. It is also a “beacon”. Its enhanced COVID-19 shutdown.
The Carnival Cruise Line currently has 13 vessels departing from 6 ports. According to Duffy, 17 ships will be out at sea by the end of December and 19 by the end of February.

Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, said the ship’s naming ceremony was a “really fun day” for the company and a “nearly sacred tradition” in the maritime world.
There is no such thing as that same name
Mardi Gras is the name of the first carnival ship to debut in 1972. But the two ships are not the same, Duffy said.
Today, the 1,130-foot-long Mardi Gras is Carnival’s newest and largest ship, with 17 passenger decks. It has a crew of 1,745, with a two-seater capacity of 5,282 and a total capacity of 6,465.
Mardi Gras is the first North American-based cruise ship powered by liquefied natural gas. It was also the first cruise ship to feature a roller coaster called the Bolt Ultimate Speed Coaster, reaching a top speed of about 40mph on a truck about 800ft above sea level.
Mardi Gras also has six theme areas with dining, entertainment and attractions. The areas are the French Quarter, Grand Central, La Piazza, Lido, Summer Landing and Ultimate Playground.
The famous chef’s dining venue on board includes Guy Fieri’s Guys Burger Joint and Guys Smokehouse Brewhouse. Emeryl Lagasse’s Emeryl Bistro 1396; and Rudy Sodamin’s Rudy Sea Grill.
In addition, Shaquille O’Neal, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, participated in a ribbon cut at his Shaquille Big Chicken restaurant on board. O’Neill holds the title of “Chief Fan Officer” at Carnival.
After cutting the ribbon, he was attacked by a fan for a selfie. At the first restaurant on a cruise ship, they kept taking pictures of him while he was sitting and eating chicken sandwiches.
Emphasis on diversity
The Saturday ceremony was based on the theme of “Universe of Fun,” with the participation of Miss Universe Andrea Meza from Mexico and Miss USA Asya Branch.
Branch sang the national anthem after many carnival employees paraded into the theater with the flag of their home country. A total of about 120 countries are represented by company staff.
Duffy joined the Miss Universe Selection Committee this spring. She said she chose Jimenez as the ship’s godfather among the contestants because Jimenez best represented fun, friendship, diversity and inclusiveness.
