More ‘Generation X’ Moved to Jacksonville, Data Says

jacksonville, florida – More young adults flock to big cities and older generations appear to be moving away from them, according to an analysis Census data from Today’s Homeowner.

Jacksonville is becoming a destination for two older groups: Generation X and the Silent Generation. Those born between 1965 and 1980 and those in their late 20s to mid-40s.

Bold City recorded the 10th highest net income among Generation Xers.

Jacksonville also posted the fourth-highest net income among the silent generations.

The five largest U.S. cities – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Philadelphia – saw the greatest gains for all Gen Zs born in the late 90s to early 2010s.

Baby Boomers make up the largest group moving to Florida, followed by Millennials and Generation X.

The pandemic has caused many adults to move out of big cities in search of lower housing costs and a better climate.

As more and more people started working from home, there were many options for people to abandon higher-cost urban areas and find more affordable conditions.

States with the highest population growth include Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, and South Carolina.

States with the highest net losses include California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey and Minnesota.

However, these numbers are raw data and do not take into account relative populations.

It’s worth noting to remember that California is the most populous state in the country, with almost twice the population of Florida and about 10,000,000 more people than Texas, which is the next runner-up.
