The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced on Sunday that Siu Ling Ko has assumed the role of Vice President and Chief Machinery Officer for Subway Automotive Equipment.
This department is responsible for the maintenance and overhaul of agency subway and truck maintenance vehicles.
Ko, a 34-year-old veteran in the division, was the first woman to take up this position.
“I’m honored to accept this role,” Ko said. “Riders are back in the subway system and our team is still ready to provide world-class subway services to millions of New Yorkers. I have been in New York City Transit for over 30 years with maintenance and trust. I’ve been working on improving my sexuality. I’m excited to continue the work. “
She oversees the maintenance, repair and overhaul of 7,092 rolling stock in the subway system and monitors maintenance, overhaul and locomotive store operations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
