New York Governor Hokul, New York Mayor De Blasio Announces New Plans to Address Climate Change

New York City (WABC)-New York Governor Kathy Hokul joins the tour to commemorate Climate Week A new one-acre work farm above the Javits Convention Center, And New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio have announced a major new investment in renewable energy.

Governor Hochul, joined by EPA administrator Michael S. Regan, outlined some new initiatives to restore the state’s air and water resources.

The plan includes new investments in air monitoring, water infrastructure and climate resilience.

Regan took the time to discuss President Biden’s Buildback Better Agenda, which aims to address the root causes of climate change.

The 200,000-square-foot Javits Center rooftop facility features a glass pavilion, an outdoor terrace, and an acre of work farms, and is expected to produce £ 40,000 of produce each year.

The farm hopes to build on the success of the convention center’s strong sustainability program, which includes 6.75 acres of rooftop greening that will serve as a habitat for the region’s wildlife, along with several other upgrades. ..

Their appearance came at the same time that Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a new large-scale renewable energy transaction for the city.

The program connects New York City with hydro, wind and solar from Canada and northern New York.

“It’s a big deal, it’s a big deal, it’s something we’ve been working on for years, and it finally bears fruit,” said De Blasio.

By 2025, the mayor said all city governments would be powered by 100% renewable energy.

The city is also working to replace 50% of New York’s fossil fuel electricity with renewable energy within the same period.

De Blasio said the program is expected to create jobs for thousands of unions.
