New York Mayor Primary: 16,867 votes cast on day 1 of early voting

New York City (WABC)-New Yorkers turned to the mayoral elections and headed for the first day of early voting in the city’s primary elections.

The Election Commission said about 17,000 people voted in five provinces on Saturday.

There are 104 early voting polling stations.

Some candidates themselves voted on the first day.

Kathryn Garcia and Sean Donovan voted on Park Slope, and Andrew Yang accompanied his wife when she voted at John Jay College.

Voters can select only one candidate or rank up to five candidates in order of priority.

“I’ve removed the band-aid. I’ve seen a lot of commercials. I wanted to hear my voice as soon as the polls started and stay out of the way,” said voter Matty Quinn.

People need to vote early from now until June 20th.

Voters will want to check in advance at the local polling place because of the different time zones, but New Yorkers may need extra time to think about this year’s vote.

A waiting time map for early voting locations has been added to the city’s Election Commission website. Please enter the address to find it.
